Sheriff Shebear meets PC Maria

At her talk at the PHA venue in Edmonton Shebear met Maria. Shebear was wondering how to interact with her. The other attendees was wondering what was going to happen. Maria had just wandered in to the venue as she was patrolling the area on her rather basic bicycle.
Shebear broke the ice first by stating that Maria was under the Criminal Jurisdiction whereas she was under the Civil Jurisdiction. The attendees were relieved that everything was amicable. They should have known that Shebear is “a Lover not a Fighter”.
Shebear told Maria that we have introduced the concept of Peace Officers to all the Police Commissioners but we had few replies. Maria recommended that we contact the head of each Police Station and that some areas of the Metropolitan Police do have pilot projects that Peace Officers could join.
Maria also commented that it would be good for there to be another organisation for the community to talk to because not everyone liked talking to the police. Shebear and Maria agreed that mainly the worst cases where publicised by the main stream media, whereas there are many good cases, like children being found and reunited with their families. This deliberately causes division.
Being diplomatic, Shebear also pointed out that not all Police personnel where acting on the best interest of the people. Some were getting involved with helping Enforcement Officers, whereas they should only be attending to prevent a breach of the peace. Shebear recommended that all Police personnel should read their Police Oath/Attestation before every shift. Maria commented that she had only seen the Oath/Attestation a couple of times.
After the photo opportunity, Maria left on her trusty bicycle. The organiser of the event run out to give Maria on of our Peace Officers Leaflets.
During the talk Shebear stated that people need to be empowered to stand up for themselves. Look out for our upcoming events on www.peaceofficers.uk/events as we will be doing roleplay at Letchworth on 14th July and have a whole day of training on 3rd August at our first Peace and Well-being Retreat see www.peaceofficers.uk/peace-well-being-retreat-aug-2025/ We are also looking for stall holders, if you are interested please emails Shebear on shebear@peaceofficers.uk with details of what you are offering.
