LGSCO Guidance on Enforcement Agents
For reference purposes, we are sharing official guidance from the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman (LGSCO) regarding the use of Enforcement Agents.
This is the document referred to in the main Peace Officers Telegram group, where an excerpt was recently shared highlighting an important distinction within enforcement procedures.
The guidance clearly demonstrates:
- A Liability Order and a Warrant are not the same document.
- They serve different legal purposes.
- A Warrant is required before enforcement agents may lawfully seek to “take control of goods.”
This distinction is explicitly acknowledged within the official material itself.
We are publishing the document here so members and the wider public can review the source material directly and understand the procedural framework being relied upon.
Please read the document carefully and in full for context.
