DOORSTEP SCRIPT: When an Energy Supplier Arrives With a Warrant

Step 1 – Ask to see the warrant
“Please may I see the warrant of entry and take time to read it?”
Check that it:
Has the correct address (your property).
Is signed/stamped by the court.
Names the supplier.
States the legal basis (Gas Act 1986 / Electricity Act 1989 / Rights of Entry Act 1954).
Step 2 – Ask about notice & procedures
“When was I notified about this application?”
“Was the court made aware of my circumstances (e.g. ongoing dispute, vulnerability, repayment offer)?”
Step 3 – State your position clearly
If there are problems:
“This warrant appears irregular because [wrong address / no seal / ongoing dispute]. I do not consent to entry on that basis.”
“I am requesting that this warrant be reviewed by the court.”
If you’re vulnerable:
“I am a vulnerable customer under Ofgem rules. The supplier is required to avoid forced entry in these circumstances.”
Step 4 – Record what happens
Write down names, ID numbers, company, and time of attendance.
If safe, you may film/photograph the warrant and the visit.
